Local Ride Maps

We are constantly trying to find a good day ride route to take. Here are some links to Google maps of some of the rides we have taken as a group or as individual members. If you have a route that you have enjoyed and would like to share, just give us the road names/numbers and we will map it on Google and post it here.

Guntersville Ride -- This is the ride that our club took after the February meeting in 2008. Kevin lead us on the ride which took us over Keel Mountain, down through New Hope and out toward Guntersville. We made a stop by a very scenic homestead along the way.

George Dickle and the Skyline Ride -- The is the ride that Chick, Madman, Russell and Jerry took one Sunday afternoon.

Southern Comfort Ride -- Ride we took with the boys to the east of us. Good roads and good food at the Bell Buckle Café.

May 2008 Meeting Ride -- The is the route that Drew and Ken treated us to when we had our meeting at Sloan’s. Very scenic and it can be as spirited or easy going as you want it to be. Bring your camera cause you will find all the Kodak moments one could ask for. Good for a mid-morning or late afternoon trip so you can eat lunch or dinner at the wonderful Bell Buckle Café. Smothered Pork Chops, umm, umm.

Loop 2 Center Hill Thrill -- This is a route taken from the MAD MAPS, Smokey Mountains/Southern Appalachia Scenic Tours (Approx. 124 Miles). This loop takes you through the green-forested hills of Dekalb County's scenic Highland Rim. As the highway winds along and across pristine Center Hill Lake, keep an eye out for wild turkey and white tailed deer (and leave your antlers at home during hunting season). The scenery is well worth a gander so don't ignore the many overlooks along the way. The tiny towns around the lake like to have a good time so if you're there in July or August, try to catch the Fiddler's Jamboree in Smithville or Dekalb County Fair. Or you can take a hike in Edgar Evins State Park, eat lunch next to a spectacular waterfall or enjoy the road.

Loop 3 Chattonooga / McMinnville -- This is a route taken from the MAD MAPS, Smokey Mountains/Southern Appalachia Scenic Tours (Approx. 200 Miles). More of a figure 8 than a loop. this route takes you southward along the scenic Cumberland Plateau. As you near the foothills of southern Appalachia you'll notice a dramatic change in the landscape as cliffs rise up out of the valley, often dropping away from the edge of the roadway. After South Pittsburg you'll cross the spectacular Tennessee River Gorge on your way into Chattanooga. There's no shortage of things to see and do so use your time well or just plan to stay overnight. Must-sees are the Tennessee Aquarium, Ruby Falls (avoid it on the weekends) and Lookout Mountain. On the ride back, squeeze in a canoe trip on the Sequatchie.
