April Meeting & SOS Ride |
|
With a month delay due to inclement weather we were finally able to have our second meeting of the year. This month we met with the great folks of Shoals Outdoor Sports in Tuscumbia, AL.
Mark Donovan, and our newest members, Greg Traynom and Arnold Threatt made us feel right at home. The membership turnout was a little light but we had a few visitors join us from the Shoals area. We got there right at 11:00. Mark and Arnold gave us a tour of the facilities and there’s a lot more than what meets the eye from the road. After the tour we made our way back to the meeting area to enjoy some pizza and drinks provided by SOS.
The meeting lasted about an hour and afterwards we treated ourselves to some goodies from SOS’s Victory toy box and they sweetened the pot by giving us a huge discount on our purchases. Thanks guys!
With the shopping out of the way we turned our attention to the ride planned by Arnold. All told we had nine bikes |

make the ride. Myself, Chick, Juan, Tom, Joel, Russell, Paris, Greg and Arnold representing the HoDVR, with a couple of visitors, Chuck Krugh and another young lady who’s name escapes me at the moment, and last but not least, Brandi, the Assistant Sales Manager.
I’m not sure what time we left out but Arnold took the point and headed west on US-72 for the Natchez Trace Parkway. With a brief stop to top off the tanks we were back on the road and turning onto the Parkway in no time. Did I mention it was a windy day? On the way over, crossing the |

Decatur Bridge, it was all I could do to keep Chick and I from going swimming. We fought it all day long.
We road the Trace for several miles passing by Tishomingo State Park before taking MS-25. Highway 25 took us to Belmont, MS and from there we hit MS-366 through Golden and back across the state line into Alabama. We took a rest stop in Red Bay before hitting Al-24 to Russellville picking up AL-43 back to Tuscumbia and the shop. Other than the wind blowing us all over the road it was a wonderful ride. |

Did we get a new member? Who’s the guy in the blue coat? |

We bid goodbye to our neighbors to the west and headed back home. Looking back over all the events of the day I couldn’t help but think what a good decision it was to hold our meetings among all the Victory families around our region. When we first talked about it we wanted to help promote the brand and the dealers in our area. I believe it does just that and more. We all gain a friend or two along the way. I’m already looking forward to our next meeting at Sloan’s and our friends on the North side of the tracks. Until next time, Ride Safe! |
